So because they are easy to paint - white undercoat, then base coat the bits which aren’t going to be “off white”, wash, then highlight.
Got to varnish and finish off the bases. They should be the last of the undead ... but the Atlantic, Oathmark and even the Warlord games plastic skeletons look so tempting - especially as they have some Greek styling ....Saturday, 15 May 2021
The last of the wraiths or Chainrasps

Some games played and a little painting done.
So last weekend (so this is a rather late report) the group got together at Tony’s place for a meet up and to play some games outside - making sure we followed the COVID rules for the UK. Unfortunately Sylon couldn’t make it, but it was the first real face to face meeting with Tony for most of the collective.
We started off with Perudo - as DK said it was easy and he can clearly explain the rules to “normal” non gamer types .... unfortunately he also give us little laminated rule sheets which contradict almost every thing he said. So we haphazardly played a few rounds in confusion, before Mrs Tony brought out a very nice dinner of Middle Eastern chicken and rice - which ended the game. There was also a very nice apple crumble and banana cake which we were fed. On my return home when I mentioned the feast my better half said she wasn’t cooking for the group .... which is disappointing.
After the food we moved onto playing One Night Werewolf - which we haven’t played in a while (and not just because of COVID.. actually because I said it was risking getting over exposed on an early post on this very blog) and it was nice to play it again, much merriment it produced. Then we moved onto COUP - another game we haven’t played in a while, again a good game with lots of bluff I quite like the vanilla version (which we played) where as DK prefers the version with factions - I could be persuaded but would like to get the basics sorted before moving the goal posts so to speak. By this time it was around 11pm and getting rather cold - it has been a cold spring this year.
So this week work has been annoying my busy so I haven’t been up to much - but I have finished half a unit of wraith things (chain rasps) for whatever game system I care to use them for.
I am quite pleased with these - as usual the basing needs finishing but they will do the job.
I also sold some old unpainted still in box Confrontation stuff I found - these were technically very good sculpts but I didn’t like the actual miniatures, they will fund something else in the future.

Building stuff
Well this week I have been - not sure playing with plastic or metal little people. The weather has been rather good and the better half has decreed that the Summerhouse (where I have been storing the commuting bike) is going .... so I had to do an extension to the store at the back of the field shelters/car ports.
The basic frame up in front of the original store. This didn’t take that long to do.
Where I got to on Saturday - shiplap on. Still got to move the doors. But it was about 5pm so didn’t want to be anymore anti social to the neighbours with hammering and sawing.Saturday, 17 April 2021
Blackstone Update and mischief....
So I have finished the first 7 of the Traitor Guard for Blackstone Fortress - taking the painted miniatures to 23 out of 44. So over 50% done. Will put together a couple of the heroes now (I did put together the Ad Mech Enginseer Techpriest).
I have also started to put together this SST Arachnid mantis bug - I think I will be drilling and pinning it as it seems a tad delicate.
Then after saying wouldn’t bay anything until I had completed Blackstone Fortress - Warlord Games were selling these at 50% off! I couldn’t let these go.

More painted stuff
I also manage to paint of of the Satanic Panic Hobgoblins from the kickstarter from last year. Some hounds, the tracker and the shaman - pack masters.
These will see service either in Kings of War or Dragon Rampant ... or whatever I manage to play. On the hounds I tried using a contrast paint - but it wasn’t as effective I I thought it might be - I had to dry-brush to get improved high lights. I think the dark brown one needs a very pale base coat. I will have another go sometime.

Still no games played - but some more painted.
A progress update on Blackstone Fortress - the Beastmen painted.
I’m not totally happy with these - but I don’t think I will be going back and trying to improve on them. They weren’t the painting experience I was hoping for - but when finished off with basing the will do the job. On the plus side I am now over 25% through the miniatures for Blackstone Fortress. Prepped and next to go are the Negavolt Cultists and the traitor imperial guard.
However in the meantime I managed to squeeze this SST M9 “Chickenhawk” Marauder Suit.
This will be pressed into service in the Mobile Infantry against the Arachnid menace at some point - I believe I have another 2 lurking about somewhere (I am sure one will join with this one in the future) and no doubt they will proxy for imperial guard at sometime too.

Necrons - done
A bit of a push and I have managed to complete my Necron Kill Team.
Another group of warriors (I can’t remember what weapon they are carrying - might be proxied for what is in the manual).
The Royal Warden - again might just use the leader stats from the core manual.
Varnish and basing to do next.
