Confrontation Devourer Marauders

So after sitting in the painting queue for a very long time I have finished off a couple of old Rackham Confrontation miniatures.

To be precise 2 Devourers of Vile-Tis Marauders.

I picked these up of eBay already assembled (but with cards). Try they are the first of the Devourers I have painted - I have small forces of Dwarfs, Goblins and Griffins painted (and I should put them on the blog at some point,if only to remind DK what he persuaded me to buy .... way back in the mists of time).

I have to say that I find the Rackham stuff quite intimidating to paint as the quality of the miniatures is so high - these are pretty well done, but they are a challenge with all the fine details.

Nice looking minis - just a touch of varnish and some grass to completely finish off.

Off to varnish some skirting boards ...

Mechanicus Tank - WIP

A couple of pictures of the work in progress Adeptus Mechanicus tank.

I need to add a bit more to the right side of the turret.

Started some new stuff

So what I have stuck together some of the Blackstone Fortress minis - I thought I should do some of the base baddies first. So 7 traitor guard (half the number in the box), 4  spindle drone things and 4 strange wandering monsters (ur-ghouls).

The plan is to undercoat and paint this lot before starting on the adventurers and more of the baddies (beastmen and the negrovolt lunatics).

I also put together my Meng Char B1 kit so I can pimp it out into a Mechanicus tank.

The tank looks good size wise - and went to together very well for a no glue kit. The trouble with converting stuff is that it slows down any painting ... although I haven’t been able to undercoat anything else at the moment due to the cold snap.

Another year down - a bit of a milestone.

Well it is that time of year where my birthday occurs - due to the Covid-19 lockdown no usual trip down to the Ocean City for a games show .... however I did get some gaming goodies.

First up Raiders of the North Sea, from my older brother.

According to DK, this is a good game so I am looking forward to playing it. It appears to be a placement and management game - with vikings.

The gaming gang clubbed together and got me

Now this looks interesting - one as a dungeon/space hulk crawl in its own right and as the miniature can be used in Kill Team (already printed off the stats and rules). Of course there are 44 minis to paint - so to paint those in a reasonable amount of time will be a challenge. I would like to try by my next birthday at least... so about a year.

Of course typically I had just found a couple of old Confrontation Wolfen Devourers which had been sitting around for years on the “ready to paint” shelf.

Base coat and wash.

Flesh done - still work in progress. Going to finish these before starting on the Blackstone Fortress miniatures. I also have the box of minis ready to undercoat ....
