Building works - progress update

Well the Lord of the Rings ruins have been completed.
Put in some tiled floors and a few bits of stone work and planks to give a little bit of life to the pieces.

Look pretty good to me!

Buliding works - Well ruins

I made the error of buying Frostgrave after having a look a DK copy.
I won't be playing in a frosty area as must of my scenery is Mediterranean in look. Also I have a load of Greek/Runequest themed minis.
Any way it has got me off my backside and started on ALL the remaining 25/8mm building projects - so that is a good thing!

Grendel ruined keep picked up a couple of years ago - it will be finished! Got to green stuff some stones on the back of the arch.

Then 2 sets of Lord of the Rings ruins and some homemade stuff - need to put some rubble etc on the bases.

I have had this farm thing for years - now I am going to convert it to a wargame friendly building with removable roof etc. got some green stuff stone and filling to do.

Finally the laser cut building from the end of July - more detailing to do!

Will post updates as I get there.

More painting done!

And I don't mean the children's bedrooms!

First up two Legolass - should that be Legoli?
Why two you ask? Well one is a present, and the other is mine for when I do the fellowship!
Pretty pleased with how they turned out.

Next up some Amazons, which have been on the painting table for years, but with my flipperty gibert attention span it has taken until now to paint them!

The high priestess! This is a Shadowforge figure from the Dark Temple range.

Peltasts by Eureka miniatures.
These and 6 Hoplites and 4 Archers (already painted) are all that remain from a purchased but abandoned HOTT Amazon army, the rest sold off long ago .... In a galaxy far far ...sorry losing train of thought. I plan to use these in skirmish games and Of Gods and Mortals ... Still waiting for Croc Games to release the demigods from the kickstarter.

Also completed the half-Orc.

Got some others on the work table - perhaps an update later.

Angels 20 - Game report

DK brought over is very nicely painted Angels 20 game - see the pictures! DK had invested a lot of time and money in this game and it is worth the effort. We played three games all based in the Battle of Britain era. The first two games were the same scenario with Steedo and myself swapping RAF for the Luftwaffe!
The pictures are from the first game where I was the Luftwaffe and Steedo was the heroes of the RAF!

The bombers and escorts over southern England!

The first of the few!

The dogfight begins!

First blood to the Luftwaffe!

The Me109E have returned to base leaving the escort roll to the Me110.

The big firing platform cripples the other Hurricane! Game over, a win the the Hun!

The first game had a bit of a learning curve to it and Steedo and I weren't using many difficult manoeuvres requiring a dice roll to see if you are successful. We also weren't using the evade tilt on the models.

A run through of the first game was that the Luftwaffe won the initiative more times than the RAF and were able to get good firing solutions which took out the Hurricanes - poor climb rolling by Steedo didn't help. The RAF did damage both the German bombers but not enough for an outright win. I managed to lose one Me109 to lack of fuel! Which were the only Victory Points the RAF got on both play throughs of this scenario.

The less said about the second game where I was the RAF the better! I decided to go for the bombers and allowed Steedo to get a very good position on my Spitfire, so good that it was destroyed of the first turn! From there it when downhill with poor dice rolls meaning the RAF weren't damaging the Luftwaffe but they were destroying another Hurricane - a humiliating defeat! Good job I wasn't in fighter command 75 years ago!

For the 3rd game DK played as the RAF with 2 spitfires and 2 hurricanes against Steedo and myself with 2 Me109s and 2 Me110s in a 150 pointer. This game showed how important initiative is in this game - the Axis didn't win it once! DK did some great manoeuvres - at one point managed to line up 3 of his planes in a nice row. If my memory serves me correctly both sides had lost a plane when time was called, but all the remaining aircraft Luftwaffe had taken damage! A narrow win to the RAF.

Overall a good game - I still have to get my head around the manoeuvring this is very important - as it should be and the altitude thing - wasn't happy at a spitfire flew over a bomber which could fire at it - might need a house rule (like the tail gunner for the 110). Winning the initiative is key for this game and it is frustrating when you don't get it.

As an observation I an not sure why they scaled the models and hexes the size they did as the game requires a lot of space - and a bigger table or possibly the floor to play on - just an observation mind.

Thanks DK for bringing it over for a game - it looks Ace!

Back from Germany - stuff on the work desk!

Well back from Germany - great country, great beer and great wine. More of that in a later post.
Got some games in mainly "Coup" and "Have at Thee". These two went down well as there is plenty of  player interaction and opportunities for revenge! I managed the two worst defeats at "Have at Thee"  with a total of 19 hits at the end of the games - run out of gems! Must suggest to Forlorn Hope that they sell the game with the gems for recording hits, perhaps in a little bag like "Love Letters".

Anyway on with the stuff I have managed to get on with - apart from the SAGA stuff, that can be another post too!

First up a Frost Giant (Reaper Bones) NEARLY finished for OGAM and anything else - I am not happy with the photo - looks better in the flesh so to speak (or should that be write?)

Next up is Rogan (another Reaper Bones) being converted to a Ranger from Rogue.
The original mini out of the pack.
Initial conversion.
Final pose with an adjustment to the bow arm. I am pretty pleased with how he looks. Just some green stuff to do and then paint. Will post more pictures later.

Hopefully will get a quick game of something in this week.
