Still busy

So thing 1 and thing 2 were returned to university in the last week. While we were dropping off thing 2 in Reading I thought that I would pop into a couple of games shops - Eclectic Games which was a good looking store  - there were plenty of board games and a huge selection of D&D miniatures. I didn’t stay long as I thought I would investigate Model Wargaming Shop Reading (Reading Model Supplies) - which was a 20 minute walk from the town centre - and was unfortunately shut/non-existent - which was a tad disappointing to say the least. I was hoping to pick up some second hand Necrons or Chaos Space Marines, but to no avail. I will see if DK can get some at a show in the near future.

I also popped into the Warhammer shop - but it is too pricey for me. I did pop into a local games shop and pick up some contrast paint - my previous experience has not been good with Cygor Brown, just too dark and not enough contrast. This time I pick up Maglor Purple for a try on the Eldar Dire Avengers.

This is the current state of the miniatures - there seems to be a pretty good contrast with this colour - I did a bit of Zenithal undercoating by dry-brushing.

Off to the moor this weekend and a return to work on Monday.

Dwarf with Crossbow - Confrontation

Apart from some varnish and some grass I have painted Dwarfs with crossbows for Confrontation’s comical Dwarf faction of Tir-Na-Bor.

These are quite nice to paint - although I find the design rather comical and jarring when compared to some of the other factions. But it works with the comedy goblins I have.

I have decided to sell off the DBA armies I have in 28mm, due to lack of use and the fact I have gone in on the Onus Kickstarter with Steedo, so really done need the duplicates.

I think I would like to do DBA in 15 or 10 mm with more figures on a base so that each base looks like a unit.

I will post images of the DBA armies as I take pictures for their sale.

Griffin Spearmen - painted. And the moor.

In amongst the hiking and work I have managed to paint some rather old Griffin spearmen for Confrontation.

Still need to put the grass on the bases. I do find the Confrontation stuff a challenge to paint as there are so many little details on them. I will do a showcase of all the painted Griffins at some point soon.

I have also been out on the moor again - a really good weekend for it (a bit cold on Saturday night mind you)!

The view from Little Mis across to Kings Tor and beyond.
Ingra Tor (I’m pretty sure).
Yes Tor and High Willhayes
Kes Tor.

Hopefully more updates soon - but the better half has plans for the house …
